Seamstress / Embroidery Machine Operator

WHAT WE NEED
We are looking for a Seamstress / Embroidery Machine Operator to support our production team in Hamilton, Ontario.

This position is for someone with general sewing experience who has an interest in learning machine embroidery. The ideal candidate wants to work in a fun, fast paced environment with a focus on the apparel industry.

DUTIES
• Operation of an industrial sewing machine to affix labels and patches to a variety of different garments including tees, sweaters and headwear.
• Operation of industrial multi-head embroidery machine including setup, hooping, loading and unloading of garments.
• Review client proof to verify colours, dimensions and placement ensuring accuracy of production runs.
• Check fabrics, garments, and finishing materials for defects.
• Inventory management of necessary supplies.
• Maintain quality standards and established productivity targets.
• Perform general machine maintenance including lubrication and bobbin replacement.
• Assist in the support of various production needs as required.
• Collaborate with staff and assist with customer consultations as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
• Basic sewing skills.
• Strong problem solving skills with an ability to respond in real-time.
• Ability to multitask and self manage deadlines.
• Excited to work in a fast-paced environment while producing results on a quick turnover.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

PREFERRED SKILLS
• 1+ years operating an industrial single needle sewing machine. Juki single needle sewing machine experience is an asset.
• 1+ years operating an industrial multi-head embroidery machine. Barudan embroidery equipment experience is an asset.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING
This is a part-time position and hours worked will be determined on a bi-weekly basis, based on the needs of the department. Hours are not guaranteed and may fluctuate between 10-30 hours a week.
Regular business hours are 9:00AM to 5:00PM, but evening and/or weekend availability may be required based on fluctuating business needs.
Hourly wage to be determined based on the individual's experience.
